The following histogram represents the points scored by a group of boys in a game.

       

        a)      What is the mode of the distribution?

        b)      What is the median of the distribution?

Answer:

        a)  In this histogram, the longest height is 3.

        So, 3 is the mode of the distribution.

        b)  We list the points scored by all the boys like this:

          

        And take the average of the two middle scores, which is 3.

        So, 3 is the median of the distribution.
